Georgia's Certified Professional Midwife numbers are GROWING!
We would like to acknowledge that in 2023, four new CPMs entered the work force in Georgia. This is a huge accomplishment that concludes several years of clinical training and didactic learning through midwifery colleges and schools.
Sadly, the state of Georgia still does not recognize this certification. Our right to work is infringed upon, our ability to access life saving medications such as vitamin K is restrained, and community birthing families are hindered in accessing collaborative care from other professionals. All because Georgia cannot make it a priority to license midwives who have already been vetted and have obtained a national certification!
Additionally, our student body is growing! We are set to double the CPM workforce in Georgia in the next 10 years. Our Student Skills Days are well attended quarterly as we continue to equip the next generation of midwives with skills for community birth. These training opportunities are completely free and open to all types of midwives. Read more about our Skills Days here!
